After the children classified the Sea  animal and learned that whales and dolphins are not fish but mammals, they made an octopus puppet practicing their fine motor skills while they worked.

One of the favorite activities in this unit was the “Tuna Fish Sandwich”, with this snack; we tasted something that comes from the sea. We made tuna salad by adding mayonnaise to a drained can of tuna. Then, they spread the tuna fish mix on the bread, cut the bread to make the shape of a fish and decorated it with colored mayonnaise.

Children drew an ocean scene or one ocean animal with oil pastels. They painted over the whole paper with blue watercolor paint to create the water. The wax in the oil pastels resists the water, so the picture shows through the paint.

Pre Kinders also worked in this unit; they made beautiful purple octopuses and a nice sea mobile.
